Beyond the Decade is the theme for the 40-Year Pan-African Prayer for the next ten years: 2025 – 2034, in line with the UN's 2nd International Decade for People of African Descent. The 40-Year Pan-African Prayer started in 2019 and will end in 2059.

There is an exhortation article for each month, followed by prayer topics to intercede for. It is important to read the article, which provides context and understanding of the prayer topics. Paul exhorts us in 1 Corinthians 14:15 to pray both with our spirit and with our mind (understanding). Praying with our minds allows the Spirit to renew our minds, change our thought patterns, imaginations, and helps us build capacity for learning. Praying in the Spirit helps us grow in the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. So, let’s do both as we intercede on the monthly topics.

Psalm 107:20 states, "He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." God has sent his Word of healing to people of African descent through the declaration of the UN International Decade for People of African Descent. But how will our people receive the healing? Through the Spirit?

Psalm 104:30 states, "When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth". Through the prayerful actions of Spirit-filled Christians of African descent, renewal, healing, and restoration will reach every community of African people. Amen.
